Captain Brian began his career in the financial services industry before joining superyachts in 2004. Now having 15 or more years of superyacht experience he’s as passionate as ever about the industry and the incredible places he visits. Brian has sailed around the world, has crossed the Atlantic many times and is particularly familiar with the Mediterranean and Caribbean. In his spare time Brian can usually be found sailing or mountain biking if not spending time in his native Ireland.

Lawrence Keith

Dundee, South Africa

Born in the Natal midlands of South Africa, Lawrence was always drawn to the water whether it was lakes, rivers or oceans. Over the last 12 years he has sailed extensively, circumnavigating the globe and crossing the Pacific and Atlantic multiple times. A qualified electrician, Lawrence enjoys an active lifestyle of fishing, cycling, rugby and is an eager pilot, a hobby he pursues in his spare time. He looks forward to bringing his passion for the water and the outdoors to the Joy team.

Jazper Saunders

Maun, Botswana

Jazper was born in Botswana but later resided in Indonesia, Zambia and South Africa. His culinary career began in Cape Town at the prestigious Le cordon Bleu Silwood where he studied for three years. He has worked in establishments such as ‘La Colombe’, ‘The Greenhouse’, Gordon Ramsay’s ‘Maze’, ‘Nobu’ and Overture – Most of which are ranked in the top five restaurant in South Africa. He specialises in Japanese, Italian and Nikkei cuisine however loves cooking food from all over the globe. He has spent the past eight years working on busy charter vessels and ashore in London as a private chef. Aside from cooking, he has a passion for travelling, scuba diving, photography and culinary adventures.

Lee Easdon

Cornwall, UK

Lee started his training at the famous Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant in Padstow, Cornwall where he worked for 5 years, he then moved on to work at 1* and 2* Michelin starred restaurants. Lee has a wide repertoire, which has been expanded through travelling and working in restaurants around the world including Australia, Japan and South East Asia, which developed his passion for Japanese and BBQ food. His hobbies include surfing, photography and paper origami. Lee aims to make a thousand paper origami cranes ‘senbazuru’ by the end of 2020!- Completed!

Patrick O’Toole

Dublin, Ireland

Patrick began his culinary career 7 years ago in Dublin. He also spent two years cooking in Spain furthering his understanding of modern European cuisine and improving his conversational Spanish. Patrick loves creative cooking and making people happy through his food. Outside of the galley Patrick is an ardent football fan and supports Arsenal football club. He enjoys road cycling and has taken part in charity road races to raise funds for Dublin’s Children Charity. Patrick is also a qualified carpenter and a keen photographer.

Jazz Parkinson

Cornwall, UK

Jazz joined JOY over three years ago bringing with her over a decade of hospitality experience. This provided Jazz with the necessary skill set to lead the fantastic interior team on board JOY to an extremely high standard, however it is her kind and welcoming personality that really makes Jazz a stand out chief stewardess. Her excellent rapport with guests and crew alike will ensure that your time on board is a very happy one in which all your needs are met!

Lucy Williams

Manchester, UK

Lucy has been working on yachts since 2015, providing her with seven years of experience. Her wealth of hospitality knowledge enables her to ensure that guests have a unique, top class experience onboard JOY. Lucy is passionate about people and insists on making thoughtful touches to makes the guest experiences a JOYful one. In her free time Lucy enjoys travelling to remote countries to experience different cultures and to enjoy her passion for freediving.

Malvern, UK

Alex joined Joy as a massage therapist and then progressed after 18 months to Second Stewardess. Alex has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience from the hospitality industry from her previous roles as a Head Spa Therapist on cruise ships and also working as cabin crew for Virgin Atlantic. Alex’s longevity onboard Joy, has allowed her to gain a wealth of knowlegde throughout the interior of the boat. Alex looks forward to ensuring you enjoy your time onboard.

Harriet Dury

Buckinghamshire, UK

Before joining the yachting industry a few years ago Harriet trained at the London School of Musical Theatre and then studied for a degree in Fitness and Dance. She is a yoga and Pilates instructor and personal trainer and has been lucky enough to travel to many different countries teaching fitness and watersports. She loves all things movement and wellness and enjoys maintaining her own fitness by hiking, surfing and taking part in yoga and HIIT sessions.

Becky grew up in Devon, UK and has been working on yachts for the past few years. Prior to this, she spent 4 months working as an au pair in the South of France and 5 months as a chalet host in the French Alps. Her interests include travelling, running, dancing and yoga. Becky is currently studying for a BSC Geography and Environmental Science degree. She is passionate about providing excellent guest service and strives to ensure that guests get the best possible experience when onboard M/Y Joy.

Growing up in New Zealand, living so far away from the rest of the world Demi always knew she wanted to be able to take her career with her to an adventurous life, travelling overseas. Studying as a Massage
Therapist, Demi decided to take her skills with her and joined a Royal Caribbean cruise ship at age 19. She quickly learnt that she loved being at seas and broadened her horizons by joining yachting. Demi loves surfing, yoga, cooking and travelling.

Alicia holds international qualifications in aesthetics and beauty therapy and is experienced in a wide range of treatments including facials, manicures, pedicures, eye-lash tinting, and waxing. Her massage certifications include Swedish, Hot Stones, Deep Tissue and Sports Massage. She is extremely passionate about health and beauty and her passion shows through in her treatments. It is with pleasure that Alicia offers a range of beauty and massage services to our guests on Joy.

Christian Rasmussen

Aalborg, Denmark

Christian was born and raised in Denmark but now resides in the beautiful Lima, Peru. Christian has held various positions including five years as a marine engineer, nine years working in offshore oil rigs as a maintenance supervisor before finally moving into the yachting industry. When not in the engine room you will find him unearthing jewels to add to his collection of Lotus cars and wristwatches. His hobbies include exploring nature and working on his home construction and renovations.

Sam Frederick

Maine, USA

Sam grew up on an island on the coast of Maine where he spent every summer day sailing, both teaching and racing. When he wasn’t in the water he could often be found working in his fathers boatyard where he learnt the skills that started down the engineering path. After school, Sam spent 4 years as an aircraft mechanic in the US Air Force before making his way into yachting. When he is not onboard taking credit for the rest of the engineering team, Sam can usually be found in Hood River, Oregon where he spends his time kiteboarding, mountain biking, paragliding or backcountry skiing.

Alex Smith

Beverley, UK

Following his education, Alex chose to study Marine Engineering at Warsash Maritime College in Southampton. It is there that he gained his CoC and HnD. After studying Alex considered joining the Royal Navy, However the adventurous life of yachting proved to be his first choice. Alex has worked on board numerous sailing yachts, both in the Mediterranean and Caribbean seas, and has completed many Atlantic crossings. Alex plans to stay in the yachting industry long term and has ambitions to become Chief Engineer. Outside of work he enjoys listening to music and playing instruments, especially guitar.

Mark Baptiste

Watford, UK

At 19 Mark joined the Armed Forces. Following his training at the Royal Navy Engineering college he served an impressive 18 years on nuclear submarines. Since then Mark has relocated himself above the ocean and into the yachting industry for the past 4 and a half years. He has a love for travelling, riding his motorbike and walking on Dartmoor National Park. Marc has a keen interest in Astronomy and building up his watch collection, which he’s had now for a number of years.

Graham Baines

Plymouth, UK

Graham has a background in hospitality management and spent three years as a Deck Cadet Officer on commercial vessels. He holds an Officer of the Watch Unlimited Certification and has now chosen to follow in the footsteps of his father, a Superyacht Captain, and pursue a career in the world of luxury yachting. Graham loves being on the water and visiting new places. He enjoys skiing, kayaking and swimming in his spare time.

Richard Dashwood-Simpson

Devon, UK

With over a decade of experience in yachting, Richard brings a wealth of charter experience to an already great team. He enjoys being out on the water ensuring the maximum amount of fun is had at every opportunity. Having a great deck team working alongside him, we ensure that both day and night to give you an amazing time during your stay with high quality service and memories that will last a lifetime. Rich enjoys free diving, skiing and playing the saxophone in his spare time.

Toby Robinson

Cotswolds, UK

Toby has a backround in watersports managment and instruction, having spent over a year setting up and managing centres in the UAE, he brings this knowledge and high standard in instruction and leadership to Joy. Watersports have taken Toby all over the world teaching a variety of sports and all levels including: windsurfing, sailing, wakeboarding and waterskiing. Aswell as his love for watersports Toby has a deep love for the mountains, and in his time off you’ll find him hiking, camping or snowboarding wherever he can. He has bought this strong skill set into yachting and has now completed over 5 years on yachts. Toby joined Joy in 2020 and hasn’t looked back.

Joel Hodgson

Cape Town, South Africa

Growing up on a game farm close to the border of Botswana, Joel has a great passion for the outdoors and wildlife playing an active role in the anti- poaching and Rhino relocation project in South Africa. He began his yachting career at the very young age of 18 and has worked on vessels ranging from 25m-87m in length. Having completed his officers ticket in 2018 Joel shows a great passion for the industry and is focused on working towards his Masters ticket. Joel thoroughly enjoys watersports and is a qualified jet-ski instructor. During his down time his hobbies includes Angling, Enduro/Motorcross, trail running & hiking.

James Burrows

Plymouth, United Kingdom

James was brought up in the coastal city of Plymouth where he played golf and football to a high standard. At the tender age of 16 he carried out an Apprenticeship in boat building and maintenance. After following this career for 9 years he decided to join the yachting industry, working as the Carpenter on classic motor yachts, one of which dating back to 1930. Having furthered his skill set, James passed his OOW exam in 2019, and is now working towards his masters ticket. In his downtime he will be found keeping fit, on the golf course or travelling.

Jamie Miller

Harare, Zimbabwe

With an international upbringing Jamie was born in Zimbabwe and from age nine lived between the UK and Australia. For fourteen years he played cricket, nine of which were at both county and state professional levels. Achieving Young Cricketer of the Year in England, Jamie was later selected for the National Under 19 Australian Cricket Squad. Jamie’s goal is to work towards his Captain ticket. Further after this Jamie would like to expand his qualifications to become a Aviation Pilot.

Adam has been in the Superyacht industry for 5 years having recently achieved his Yacht Master Offshore certification and is now working towards becoming and Officer of the Watch. Within his role as a Deckhand, Adam has gained valuable experience and knowledge in all aspects of his position on board. He is highly qualified in carpentry and a certified advanced scuba diver. Adam has sailed all his life and from a young age has had a passion for the sea. In his spare time he likes to stay active by kite surfing, sailing, skiing and going to the gym to keep fit.

Milo joins us having completed 2 years onboard a 55m charter yacht. A keen learner Milo achieved his Yacht Masters at the young age of 18 after completing 3 A levels. Milo hopes to progress in his career and become a captain one day. His hobbies include music, surfing, squash and watersports.He looks forward to ensuring your time onboard is one to remember.

Cape Town, South Africa

Luca grew up along the coast of Port Elizabeth spending most of his time surfing and wakeboarding along withother watersports. After finishing school he played professional rugby for The Southern Kings and later progressed to playing for Italy U21 side. Luca has been in the yachting industry for 4 years and is now looking to complete is OOW. In his spare time Luca enjoys freediving, scuba diving and wakeboarding.

Brighton, UK

Benji has been spending his time living and working in Turkey, Greece and the Middle East, has given Benji the chance to travel and experience different cultures around the world as well as enhance his skill on the water.
Benji joined the yachting industry so he could continue his passion for travel and being on the water by living on it full time!
He has travelled extensively on the ocean, visiting off the beaten track destinations including Patagonia and French Polynesia.

Samantha Stewart

Johannesburg, South Africa

Sam is a happy-go-lucky lover of life, our planet and all its beauties. She smiles and laughs her way through each day. Her yachting career began in 2017 when she decided to venture out of her hometown of Johannesburg, South Africa and fly off to France. Since then she has had experience working in different parts of the world as a deckhand and as a stewardess, and is currently working towards obtaining her OOW. Being passionate about nature and conservation, she’s built her diving qualifications up to that of PADI Divemaster and enjoys getting involved in environmental projects. Sam loves being in and around the water and is always down for a swim and an adventure.
