Lawrence leads an energetic lifestyle that mirrors his affinity for the outdoors. Trevor Ohlssen

Cape Town, South Africa

Born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, Trevor has sailed aboard the family 9m (30ft) yacht from age 6 and was a Sea Scout until his early teens. He taught dinghy sailing and wakeboarding at summer camps in the USA a few years after that and joined the super yachting game at the age of 23. Since then, Trevor has cruised as a crew member all over the world on yachts from 45m – 95m in length. A Captain since 2014, he knows the formula for a fun yachting adventure and will help shape the best memories for his guests! Beyond work, Trevor enjoys scuba diving and exploring the wonders of the underwater world and in the winter you will find him snowboarding on the slopes.

Graham Baines

Plymouth, United Kingdom

Graham grew up in Plymouth in the UK. Graham’s journey began with his cadetship as a deck officer in the Merchant Navy. In 2016, he transitioned to the world of superyachts and found his place aboard M/Y Joy. Graham has steadily risen through the ranks, ultimately achieving the position of Chief Officer. His unwavering commitment to professional growth led him to obtain his Master 3000GT ticket in 2022. Graham has a passion for scuba diving in which he became certified PADI Divemaster. Graham is an avid hiker and runner. He also enjoys navigating the slopes skiing in the winter. Whether exploring new destinations through travel, or embracing the thrill of motorcycling, Graham approaches life with a spirit of adventure.

Richard embarked on his career in 2009 and achieved his Chief Mate certificates by the age of 26. With over a decade of experience at sea, he brings a wealth of knowledge in destination planning and management, ensuring unforgettable experiences. Richard is a true watersports enthusiast and all round entertainer, always seeking the next thrilling adrenaline rush. From heli-skiing in the snow-capped mountains to exploring the depths through free diving, he embraces an active lifestyle. Beyond the waves, Richard’s talents extend to the world of music. As a passionate saxophonist and pianist, he ensures to always entertain.

Toby Robinson

Toby grew up in the picturesque Cotswolds, nestled in the heart of England’s countryside. This undoubtedly influenced his love for the outdoors and adventurous pursuits.Watersports have taken Toby all over the world, teaching windsurfing, sailing, wake-boarding and water-skiing at all levels. Toby brings a wealth of experience from over a year spent in the UAE, where he established and managed watersports centers as an instructor. Toby’s career in the yachting industry spans over five years, with his extensive skillset in water activities a valuable asset to Joy. Aswell as his love for watersports, Toby has a deep love for the mountains, and in his time off you’ll find him hiking, camping or snowboarding.

James Burrows

James was brought up in the coastal city of Plymouth where he played golf and football at a high level. At the tender age of 16, he carried out an apprenticeship in boat building and maintenance. After following this career for 9 years he decided to join the yachting industry, working as a carpenter on classic motor yachts, one of which dated back to 1930. James’ commitment to professional growth led him to pass his OOW exam in 2019. He now sets his sights on obtaining his Master’s ticket. Outside of work, James maintains an active lifestyle, focusing on fitness, hitting the golf course, and indulging in his love for travel.

Jamie Miller

Perth, Australia

With an international upbringing, Jamie was born in Zimbabwe and from the age of nine, lived between the UK and Australia. Jamie dedicated nine years to a successful professional cricket career, competing at both county and state levels. Additionally,having the honor of representing Australia in the under 19 Cricket Squad. Jamie has recently obtained his OOW Unlimited ticket, and has his sights set on achieving a Master’s ticket in the future. Beyond that, Jamie aspires to broaden his horizons by pursuing qualifications as an Aviation Pilot. In Jamie’s spare time, he enjoys taking part in a round of golf or a game of tennis.

Dean enjoyed growing up between the UK and South Africa. Dean’s career began in world of carpentary. With a master carpenter for a father, Dean inherited a wealth of invaluable knowledge and skills, shaping him into an exceptional craftsman. Dean’s journey into yachting is preceded by an exciting stint in Dakar Rally teams. A passion for travel, lead Dean into the yaching industry six years ago. Dean enjoys playing rugby, padel and squash and when not playing sports he loves sipping a Piña Colada in the sunshine.

Josh grew in Cape Town before moving to Somerset West, which sparked his love for the outdoors and sports. At high school, Josh began racing quad bikes, a passion that eventually evolved into a love for his current sports of running and mountain biking. Josh pursued his higher education at Stellenbosch University, culminating in an honours degree in Sport Science. During Josh’s studies, he gained invaluable experience as a soigneur for professional cycling teams. This hands-on exposure further deepened his understanding of sports and fitness. Upon graduation, Josh embraced the role of head personal trainer at a prominent gym in Stellenbosch. Josh’s adventurous side has lead him into yachting, where he is eager to explore destinations and share his passion for fitness.

Sam is a happy-go-lucky lover of life, our planet and all its beauties. She smiles and laughs her way through each day. Her yachting career began in 2017 when she decided to venture out of her hometown of Johannesburg, South Africa and fly off to France. Since then she has had experience working in different parts of the world as a deckhand and as a stewardess and is currently working towards obtaining her OOW. Being passionate about nature and conservation, she’s built her diving qualifications up to that of PADI Divemaster and enjoys getting involved in environmental projects. Sam loves being in and around the water and is always keen for a swim and an adventure.

Born and raised in Johannesburg, Brandon studied Business and IT but soon after realised the standard 9-5 wasn’t for him and jumped to the seas to embrace a career in the superyacht industry. Brandon is a spontaneous individual, always looking for an adventure. He enjoys gaining new skills and seizing opportunities with his forever fun and cheerful persona. Brandon is a versatile athlete with a particular talent in golf. He also enjoys engaging in other sports like padel, tennis, and rugby, showcasing his love for a wide range of physical activities.

Growing up in the countryside in South West England, Marie-Claire developed a fantastic sense of adventure. She found her way to yachting in 2019 after working in Australia as a dive instructor. Always having had a passion for travel, she has taken on many solo adventures to various parts of the world. It is through her travels that Marie-Claire started capturing her memories through the lens. Not only does she enjoy life on and under the water, but also up in the mountains skiing and hiking. Yachting and diving alike have allowed her to carry on exploring while working.

Lewis is from the vibrant city of Edinburgh, Scotland. His early years saw him excel as a semi-professional footballer, so feel free to give him a shout for a game of football on the Games Deck! Lewis has a great passion for fitness, outdoor activities such as surfing and extreme sports like cliff jumping. Lewis is an intrepid traveler who relishes the opportunity to explore the world solo. He loves meeting new people and immersing himself in different cultures. Lewis has been in the yachting industry for over 4 years and coming from a hospitality background, Lewis is a true people person.

Melissa grew up on an apple and pear farm in the Elgin Valley, South Africa, establishing her love for the outdoors, mountain biking and hiking. She studied Somatology in the Winelands of Stellenbosch, which sparked her curiosity for wine and the service industry. Having joined yachting in 2013, Melissa has completed two new builds and worked on yachts ranging from 45-91m. Throughout her career, Melissa has always strived to run the most welcoming and fluid Interior team. Her creative flare and passion for creating impactful memories will ensure your trip is an unforgettable one.

Alex grew up in the Herefordshire countryside in the UK. She went on to study Sports Therapy and Massage at college. Alex’s career path has been nothing short of adventurous. Starting as a Massage Therapist on cruise ships for 2 years, she then took to the skies as cabin crew for Virgin Atlantic, where her commitment to service excellence soared. In 2020, she made a seamless transition into the yachting industry, bringing with her a wealth of experience from the hospitality sector. When not at work, Alex finds joy in exploring new destinations, hiking,and baking delicious cakes.

Becky grew up in Devon, UK. At 18, Becky began working as an au pair in the South of France and later as a chalet host in the French Alps. Becky enjoys engaging her mind and she currently is studying for a BSC degree in Geography and Environmental Sciences. Becky enjoys running, exploring new cultures and magic tricks.

Raised close to the water in a small fishing village in Cape Town, the ocean brings absolute serenity to Chrissy
It was after studying Somatology when she discovered her love for massaging. This is why she pursued a career in the wellness industry soon after graduation and has been working in Spa’s in Cape Town for 6 years, including 12 Apostles hotel and The Westin. Chrissy offers a range of beauty and wellness treatments and she specialises in aromatherapy, Swedish, deep tissue, hot stone, bellabaci cup, pre-natal and lymphatic drainage massages. Her sense of adventure got the better of her and this is how she decided to follow her dreams and join the yachting industry in 2022. Chrissy in her downtime, enjoys exploring the wine farms of Cape Town and immersing herslf in books and music.

Growing up in the seaside town of Poole sparked Lucy’s love for the water and this inspired her to join the ever exciting yaching industry in 2020. Lucy has always been involved in hospitality and gained a First Class Hons in International Hospitality Management at university. After 3 years as an Event Manager in London, Lucy decided to combine her love for travelling whilst simultaneously learning to elevate her service standards on yachts. A massive foodie at heart who loves socialising, Lucy loves to host dinner parties and cocktail nights with her friends. Outside of hospitality, keeping active is a very important part of Lucy’s life, if she’s not in the gym, you will find her doing pilates outside or going for long walks. Andrew was born and raised in the West Midlands and joined The Royal Navy at 20 years old, where he served 23 years as a Marine Engineer. After completing his training and degree in Engineering Systems, he served on Frigates and Destroyers. Andrew left The Royal Navy as a Warrant Officer 1 First Class. Since leaving Andrew has transitioned to yachting via LNG Cargo ships to obtain his Chief Engineer CoC. Away from work he enjoys the gym, kart racing, playing tennis and spending time with his family.

Martin comes from a small town in the southwest of England. With a solid foundation of 17 years of service in the Royal Navy, Martin transitioned into the yachting industry in 2015. Through dedication and hard work, Martin ascended to the role of Chief Engineer, gaining valuable experience on various boats, including overseeing the completion of the Joy. Beyond work, Martin enjoys in fine-tuning his car, exploring new destinations, and cherishing moments with family and friends. Martin has his sights set on an exciting future challenge – trekking to Everest Base Camp with a group friends.

Following his education, Alex chose to study Marine Engineering at Warsash Maritime College in Southampton. It is there that he gained his CoC and HnD. After studying Alex considered joining the Royal Navy, However, the adventurous life of yachting proved to be his first choice. Alex has worked on board numerous sailing yachts, both in the Mediterranean and Caribbean seas, and has completed multiple Atlantic crossings. Alex plans to stay in the yachting industry long term and has ambitions to become Chief Engineer. Outside of work he enjoys listening to music and playing instruments, especially the guitar.

Carragh grew up in a sailing town in Devon on the South coast of the UK. She started sailing and racing from a young age at her local sailing club and teaching at the sailing school. With salt in her blood and a strong desire to work and live on the ocean, she chose to become a Marine Engineer. She began her career over 10 years ago with the Royal Navy, and since then, Carragh has spent the past 6 years acquiring experience and knowledge on various large yachts. In her spare time, she enjoys kitesurfing, sailing, diving, and traveling.

Lee’s culinary journey began at the renowned Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant in Padstow, Cornwall, where he refined his skills for five years. He then ventured into the world of Michelin-starred restaurants, gaining extensive experience in fine dining. Lee has a wide repertoire, which has been expanded through travelling and working in restaurants around the world including Australia, Japan and South East Asia. This was where he deveopled his passion for Japanese and BBQ food. Beyond the kitchen, Lee is an avid surfer, finding solace and excitement in riding the waves. He also has a keen eye for photography. Additionally, Lee has a creative side, enjoying the intricate art of paper origami.

Nick has over 20 years of chef experience in restaurants, yachting and the private sector. Nick’s journey began in his hometown of Manchester. His culinary mastery has taken him across the globe, from a prestigious 3 Michelin star restaurant in New York to a charming boutique château in France. Nick’s career highlights also include the opening of a one-hat restaurant in Australia, showcasing his diverse and refined culinary skills.. In between these ventures, Nick has worked in numerous kitchens internationally gaining experience in a multitude of cuisines. Nick enjoys going on adventures with his kids, making sure they have good taste in music, playing sports, and of course discovering amazing food.

Patrick began his culinary career 7 years ago in Dublin. His culinary adventure took him to Spain for two years, where he immersed himself in modern European cuisine and honed his conversational Spanish. Patrick loves creative cooking and making people happy through his food. Outside of the galley, Patrick is an ardent football fan and supports Arsenal football club. He enjoys road cycling and has taken part in charity races to raise funds for Dublin’s Children’s Charity. Patrick’s skills extend beyond the culinary world. He is a qualified carpenter. Additionally, Patrick is an accomplished photographer with a particular affinity for capturing the beauty of sunsets and the moon.

Chris was born and raised in the coastal town of Port Elizabeth. Chris has been in the yachting industry for the past five years, begining as a deckhand. Eventually Chris followed his heart’s true calling, turning his passion for food into a culinary career. Chris honed his skills at the prestigious Ballymaloe Cookery School in Ireland and returned to the yachting industry as a Sous/Crew Chef. With a wealth of knowledge spanning various cuisines, Chris thrives on experimentation and the thrill of trying new culinary endeavors. Beyond work, Chris loves to stay active, whether it”s doing a gym workout or going for a hike. Chris enjoys socializing, whether it’s over a few drinks or seeking out the next best brunch, lunch, or dinner spot.
