Rory Hogan

Dublin, Ireland

Captain Rory started his seagoing career in the Merchant Navy and moved to the yachting industry in 2003. He is a qualified Class 1 Master Mariner and was an avid sailor in his youth. He worked his way through the ranks on yachts from 38 to 138 meters in length gaining his first command position at age 29. Rory has sailed extensively in the Mediterranean, the Caribbean and as far afield as Alaska with 33 Atlantic crossing under his belt. In his spare time Rory enjoys music and fishing on the lakes and rivers of his native Ireland.

Martin Shairp

Inverness, Scotland

Captain Martin started his seagoing career as a deckhand on his fathers fishing boat on weekends and school holidays. He joined the Merchant Navy at the age of seventeen and then moved to the yachting industry in 2000. He is commercially qualified having done his Cadetship with P&O Containers Shipping Line. Martin has sailed around the world, has crossed the Atlantic many times and is particularly familiar with the Mediterranean and Caribbean. In his spare time Martin enjoys sailing, mountain climbing and other outdoor pursuits particularly in his native Scotland.

Paul Hamilton

London, UK

Chef Paul brings over 20 years of professional culinary experience. He has worked in some of the world’s finest dining establishments including 1, 2 & 3 Michelin star restaurants for chefs such as Anton Mosimann and Pierre Koffmann. He has travelled extensively in South East Asia, Indian Ocean, Caribbean, Mexico and Europe and likes to incorporate these experiences and influences into his cuisine. Paul enjoys underwater photography, English football, and travelling the world to experience the unique culture, cuisine and culinary techniques associated with each country.

Patrick O’Toole

Dublin, Ireland

Patrick began his culinary career 7 years ago in Dublin. He also spent two years cooking in Spain furthering his understanding of modern European cuisine and becoming fluent in Spanish. Patrick loves creative cooking and making people happy through his food. Outside of the galley Patrick is an ardent football fan and supports Arsenal football club. He enjoys road cycling and has taken part in charity road races to raise fund for Dublin’s Children Charity. Patrick is also a qualified carpenter and a keen photographer.

Harriet Knibbs

Leeds, UK

Harriet brings with her over 7 years of management and hospitality experience. She has an excellent rapport with the guests and crew alike and works to a very high standard. Complimenting her role as Chief Stewardess, Harriet is effectual in silver service, wine knowledge, housekeeping standards, floristry and events. She greatly enjoys providing guests with an unforgettable experience while on board MY Joy. In her spare time she loves fine dining and wine tasting. She also has a flair for interior design and has completed several property developments in the UK.

Gabriella Rhodes

Bath, UK

With five years extensive experience in the industry Gabriella has worked on yachts ranging from 55m to 156m. Throughout her career she has specialised as a Head of House and also a Senior Service Stewardess who is well advised in cocktails, wine and barista skills. In her spare time Gabriella enjoys watersports, skiing, horseback riding and diving. She looks forward to enhancing your holiday and making your stay an unforgettable one.

Kate Lindsay

Liverpool, UK

Kate holds international qualifications in aesthetics and beauty therapy and is experienced in a wide range of treatments including facials, cryo facials, manicures, pedicures, eye-lash tinting, and waxing. Her massage certifications include Swedish, Hot Stones, Thai, Ayurvedique and Deep Tissue Sports Massage. She is extremely passionate about health and beauty and her passion shows through in her treatments. It is with pleasure that Kate offers a range of beauty and massage services to our guests on Joy.

Natasha Miszewski

Cape Town, South Africa

Natasha is Joy’s physiotherapist providing a full health and fitness package in conjunction with our onboard Personal Trainer, Marc. She studied in Cape Town, South Africa. Natasha enjoys sports physio and she has worked with a variety of different athletes, including rugby players, marathon runners, and mountain bikers. She has experience with neurological conditions, acute and chronic orthopaedics, paediatrics and respiratory physio. Additionally, Natasha also enjoys providing deep tissue massage and other forms of massage therapy.

Jazz Parkinson

Cornwall, UK

Jazz was born in St.Ives Cornwall but lived in York until the age of 10. From then on Jazz lived in the Canary Islands living in Fuerteventura but attending school in Lanzarote. She travelled to school every day for 6 years by ferry! Jazz joined the hospitality industry at the age of 16 when she began working in her family business alongside studying childcare and working part time in a nursery. She has been on the hospitality sector ever since. Combining her love travel, the sea and smiley personality Jazz joined the yachting industry and looks forward to ensuring your time onboard is enjoyable.

Danielle Anderson-Finch

Danielle has worked as a personal assistant for the past two years at a wealth management company in London. In her earlier career Danni trained as a professional dancer at the Brit’s school of Performing Arts and Technology where she studied Contemporary Dance. Performing in a number of shows including Cats the musical. Danni joins Joy with a diverse skill set and years of professional experience. Combined with her outgoing personality, Danielle hopes to make your stay on board enjoyable.

Lawrence Keith

Dundee, South Africa

Lawrence was born in the Natal midlands of South Africa and grew up there until the age of eighteen. He joined the industry seven years ago and has since travelled extensively around the world. He has completed a world circumnavigation which included a Pacific crossing and two Atlantics. A qualified electrician, Lawrence enjoys an active lifestyle of fishing, cycling, rugby and is an eager pilot, a hobby he pursues in his spare time. He looks forward to bringing his passion for the water and the outdoors to the Joy team.

Alex Dromgoole

Chester, UK

Alex started his maritime career through a Merchant Navy Cadetship and progressed to achieve his Officer of the Watch Unlimited. Alex has chosen the Super Yacht path and hopes to become a Captain one day. He enjoys dingy sailing and has competed in dingy racing since the age of seven in the British city of Peterborough. Alex was previously an instructor for sailing, wakeboarding, skiing and snowboarding and he looks forward to using these skills onboard.

Jonathan Jones

Llangollen, UK

Jonathan has had a passion for the water since an early age. He completed his first open water UK dive at the age of 14 and has competed at a national level at wakeboarding and kitesurfing. Jonathon has chosen to return to a career in the world of luxury yachting after many years of working in the commercial shipping industry. His career has so far taken him to Australia where he explored both coasts including the Kimberley, and Great Barrier Reef. He has also sailed parts of Asia, Mediterranean, Baltic and the Caribbean. In his spare time he enjoys playing football, golf and kitesurfing.

Adam Newton

Portsmouth, UK

Adam has been in the Superyacht industry for 4 years having recently achieving his Yachmaster Offshore certification and is now working towards becoming and Officer of the Watch. Within his role as a Deckhand, Adam has gained valuable experience and knowledge in all aspects of his position on board. He is highly qualified in carpentry and a certified advanced scuba diver. Adam has sailed all his life and from a young age has had a passion for the sea. In his spare time he likes to stay active by kite surfing, sailing, skiing and going to the gym to keep fit.

Marc Greenwood

Manchester, UK

Marc is Joy’s Personal Trainer and Boxing Coach. He started boxing from a young age which led to a degree in Sport & Exercise Science from Sheffield Hallam University. Launching his own training company after his studies brought him vast experience in the health and wellness industry. Marc is a keen writer and loves to explore. He intends to combine these two passions and publish a book one day about his travels. Marc is also an accomplished chess player and happy to play a game at any time whilst you are relaxing between training sessions.

Jamie Miller

Harare, Zimbabwe

With an international upbringing Jamie was born in Zimbabwe and from age nine lived between the UK and Australia. For fourteen years he played cricket, nine of which were at both county and state professional levels. Achieving Young Cricketer of the Year in England, Jamie was later selected for the National Under 19 Australian Cricket Squad. Now coming into his yachting career Jamie’s goal is to work towards his Captain ticket. Further after this Jamie would like to expand his qualifications to become a Aviation Pilot.

Rory Guy

Cornwall, UK

Growing up on the Isles of Scilly, 28NM south west of Cornwall, Rory has always been a sporty and adventurous person. An avid golfer, he played the South West Trials while obtaining his Sports Science Diploma. Upon graduation Rory created Pure Gym, his personal training venture. From there he came onto his first boating experience as both a Deckhand, specialising in maintaining classic wooden boats, and as a Steward, catering towards high-end bespoke dinner cruises. Rory joins MY Joy, with his diverse skill set, ready to create an unforgettable guest experience.

Andy Bartlett

Surrey, UK

Andy grew up in the sunny hills of Surrey. Living in the countryside has made him a very outdoors person who enjoys most sports, golf and squash. At eighteen years of age Andy left the UK and moved to the South of France residing in Monaco for a few years where he worked on various events such as the Tennis Open and the Monaco Grand Prix as a sound technician. After spending six years in France and being surrounded by the luxury yachts he ventured into the yachting industry to pursue his career.

Michele Viezzoli

Trieste, Italy

From a young age Michele was interested in engines and mechanics which lead to him obtaining his Nautical Engineering Diploma in 1996. After some time in the Italian Navy, achieving the rank of Lieutenant, Michele started his commercial marine career as a Chief Engineer on small tankers. Several exams, certifications and much sea-time later, Michele obtained his Chief Engineer Unlimited License. In his spare time Michele loves snowboarding, mountain biking and racing motorbikes.

Mike Schrodter

Hamilton, New Zealand

Mike first began his career as Shipwright and Mechanical Engineer with Alloy Yacht International responsible for launching yachts between 35 and 60m. He then entered the yachting industry in 2002 providing him 18 years of experience. Mike has competed both nationally and internationally sailing for the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron and one of his greatest pleasures in life is sailing his own yacht, in which he sailed across the pacific. When Mike is not on the water he enjoys cycling and skiing, having travelled 4000km across Australia in 24 days on his bicycle.

Alex Smith

Beverley, UK

Following his education, Alex chose to study Marine Engineering at Warsash Maritime College in Southhampton. It is there that he gained his CoC and HnD. After study Alex considered joining the Royal Navy, However the adventurous life of yachting proved to be his first choice. Alex has worked on board numerous sailing yachts, both in the Mediterranean and Caribbean seas and has completed many Atlantic crossings. Alex plans to stay in the yachting industry long term and has ambitions to become Chief Engineer. Outside of work he enjoys listening to music and playing instruments, especially guitar.
